The ‘Because of Them’ Project

Celebrating The Stories of the Dogs Who’ve Stood Beside You Through It All.

They’ve been there through the heartbreak.
Through the uncertainty.
Through the stillness, the joy, the growing pains.
They’ve held space for your quietest moments and your most unforgettable ones — they’ve never asked for a single thing in return, and yet… they’ve given you everything.

The ‘Because of Them’ Project is a tribute project created to honor the dogs who have shaped us, and the dogs who make our house a home.

This isn’t just a photo session.
It’s tale of friendship. A legacy.
A way to preserve the bond shared between the two of you that carried you when nothing else could.

For the dog who made your life whole —
this is for them.

All stories will be featured in a gorgeous limited-edition coffee table book dedicated to supporting dogs and pets in need throughout New England.

Working with Gina, and her photos, was just incredible!

“[Gina has]…an uncanny talent for capturing not just the physical format of the dog in the most breathtaking way, but somehow their SOUL, their SPIRIT, their ESSENCE’

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • No off leash? No problem! Since we will be in an urban setting, all dogs will remain on-leash for their safety. I will even bring specialty collars for your dogs to wear that are easy to remove in post-processing, so it appears as if the were off-leash the entire time!

  • No training? No problem here! Your dog’s portrait sessions isn’t about stellar obedience, it is about letting them be 100% themselves. From zoomies in all directions, to exploring their surroundings, there has never been a dog, no matter the training level, that I haven’t been able to create breathtaking one-of-a-kind portraits of!

  • Honestly, dogs are kind of like potato chips in my mind, you can’t ever have just one! And if you have more than one pup in your household, it just wouldn’t be fair to not create art from your session featuring them all! Regardless of how many dogs you bring to your session, your spread will still be limited to two pages to feature them all, ensuring there is enough room in the book to feature all dogs who have applied and been accepted.

  • Of course you can be in the photos with your dog! I don’t just allow this, I encourage it! These sessions are about celebrating your best friend; embrace the moment, take the photo, and love the lasting memories of you two, together.

  • We live in a digital age - so why art?

Imagine the emotions you feel when you catch sight of your dog’s portrait displayed on the walls of your own home as you walk to make your morning cup of coffee, or imagine flipping through the pages of an album that captures an entire afternoon of memories that you two shared. Have you ever felt this way with an online gallery link that you’ve lost in your email? Yeah, me either. That is the power of physical artwork; it provides an experience that digital mediums simply just cannot replace or replicate.

The friendship you and your dog share is tangible, your art should be too.

  • YES! And the best part—you’ll get both: digital files AND stunning artwork. You and your dog deserve the best of both worlds!

Digital photos are great for sharing and scrolling, but here at Gina Soule Photo, we specialized in finished fine art pieces. Why you might ask? Because you and your dog’s love, bond, and friendship is tangible, so your portraits should be too! We want you to be able to relive those moments you shared with your dog each and every time you walk through your home and see your dog’s portraits on your walls. Or when you sit down on the couch and flip through the pages of your album with your dog at your side. The is the magic of finished pieces of art. However, we know you’ll want to share your images with your friends and family! That is why every portrait that is turned into art comes with the corresponding web sized digital image, perfect for sharing with friends and family!

  • 100% yes! If your dog is accepted into the project, they will be featured in the book. They will have a two-page spread with story of the friendship the two of you share.
